Vampire V5

Normal and Hunger dice pools, successes, and outcomes.

Notation and inputs

v5(pool,hunger,difficulty?) rolls a d10 pool. pool is an integer ≥1, hunger an integer from 0 through 5, and optional difficulty an integer ≥0. Hunger dice count is min(pool,hunger); the rest are normal dice. In code, call rollVampireV5({ pool, hunger, difficulty }, options).

v5(7,3)
v5(7,3,4)
v5(pool=7,hunger=3,difficulty=4)
import { rollVampireV5 } from '@erpg/dicecore/systems/vampire-v5'
const roll = rollVampireV5({ pool: 7, hunger: 3, difficulty: 4 }, { seed: 'session-12' })
console.log(roll.successes, roll.criticalPairs, roll.outcome)

Faces

Die Faces faceKey Symbols
Normal 1–5 blank none
Normal 6–9 success success
Normal 10 critical success, critical
Hunger 1 bestial-failure bestial failure
Hunger 2–5 blank none
Hunger 6–9 success success
Hunger 10 messy-critical success, critical, messy critical

Each 6–10 counts as one success. Each pair of 10s adds two successes; criticalPairs is the number of pairs. With a difficulty, a successful roll with a pair of 10s and at least one Hunger 10 becomes messy-critical; without a Hunger 10, critical-success. A failure with at least one Hunger 1 becomes bestial-failure. Other outcomes are success and failure. Without a difficulty, the outcome is pending even if critical faces appear.

Each die carries a normal or Hunger profileId, faceKey, and symbols for rendering. baseRoll may be full or compact; the semantic result remains available.
